Suhasini Kerjiwal

Born 1973, India.

Kejriwal earned a BFA from the Parsons School of Design, New York in 1998. She went on to earn a diploma and a masters degree from Goldsmith College in London. Kejriwal has participated in solo exhibitions at Chitrakoot Gallery, Calcutta (1998), Sakshi Gallery, Bangalore (2002), Gallery Ske, Bangalore (2004), Nature Morte, New Delhi (2005; 2007) and Anokhi Museum Jaipur (2009). Kerjiwal now lives and Works in Kolkata.

Through the experience of being a foreign student in the US and UK and with her familiarity with the arts and crafts of Kolkata, Kerjiwal has produced art that takes from both east and west. Kejriwal works in collage, painting and intricate embroidery to create two and three-dimensional works. Textures, patterns and layers using a great sense of colour are produced depicting a world of animals and nature and the relationship between them. Under the intricate and colorful surface of her magical work we find an artist who isn’t afraid to reveal vulnerability and empathy with the world around her.
