Charlie Billingham studied Fine Art and History of Art at Edinburgh College of Art and the University of Edinburgh (2003-08) and the Royal Academy Schools, London (2010-13). Billingham lives and works in London. He will have his first solo show with Marcelle Joseph Projects in November 2012 and then with Ceri Hand Gallery in November 2013, and will be included in Another Room, R O O M Gallery London, in October 2012.
This talented young artist makes highly original paintings and decorative installations, using languages borrowed from art, interior design, printmaking and art history. His recent paintings are from a series that is inspired by imagery from Georgian and Regency etchings by James Gillray and George Cruikshank.
