Pollock is a recent graduate from the Slade School of Fine Art, now living and working in London. He produces small, intimate paintings which explore the relationship between the sacred and the profane. Pollock works particularly with oil on copper, building the image up slowly through a series of layered glazes: this labour intensive process lends the work a peculiar intensity. His work is strongly influenced by the stillness of paintings by Chardin and Vermeer; the humility and peace they exude has sparked his own pursuit of quietude.
